Meet the team: La ToyaLandscape Services Team
“I’ve always wanted to work in the landscaping industry, but no one gave me an opportunity, except Multhana.”
Half Aboriginal and half South Sea Islander, Brisbane-born LaToya moved back to her hometown earlier this year, after seven years in Hervey Bay.
LaToya’s Grandmother is from the Gunggari tribe, her grandfather (on her father’s side) identifies as a Bidjara, and her mum’s dad is from the Byellee region.
LaToya has always wanted to work in the landscaping industry, however, was finding that no one was willing to give her the chance to prove herself. In June LaToya moved back to Brisbane, where she found Multhana.
What is your favourite thing about working for Multhana?
I love being outdoors and being able to move around in my job, getting my hands dirty. The exercise and fitness are a bonus too!
The team have also been really great at showing me the ropes and making me feel welcomed and respected.
What are you passionate about?
I love Texas Holdem Poker, I’ve played in tournaments in Brisbane and Hervey Bay. It really helps me chill out and relax – I’m in my own little world when I play.
I also play touch football and softball. I will be playing in the annual Murri Women’s Softball Tournament that’s coming up in October, which I’m very excited about.
Do you have any strange phobias?
I hate heights – I don’t know if that’s strange…I hope it isn’t!
